- Jacob Schowalter
ca. 1700 – 1773. Born at Schafbusch, Alsace, France, immigrated to America in 1750 with his wife Maria and 11 children. Arrived on the English ship “Brotherhood” at Philadelphia on November 3, 1750. Lived in White Hall Township, Northampton Co. PA. Leader of the Mennonite congregation at Siegfried’s on the Lehigh River. Buried at the Old Mennonite (Siegfried’s) Cemetery.

1738 – 1822. Born at or near Schafbusch, Alsace, France, immigrated to America with his parents as a 12-year-old. Married Margaret Saunders. Fined twice for refusing military service in the Revolutionary War. Lived in White Hall Township, Northampton Co. and Tredyffrin Township, Chester Co. in Pennsylvania, before eventually moving to Broadway in Rockingham Co., VA in the spring of 1788. Buried at Trissels Mennonite Church.
- Joseph Showalter
1776 – 1838. Born in Tredyffrin Township, Chester Co. PA. Moved with his family to Rockingham Co. VA as an 11-year-old in 1788. Married Annie Rhodes. Lived the remainder of his life on the Showalter homestead. Buried at Trissels Mennonite Church.

1802 – 1899. Lifetime resident of Rockingham Co. VA. Married Nancy Miller. Mennonite minister who was the last in Virginia to preach exclusively in the German language. At 97 years, my ancestor with the longest lifespan. Buried at Trissels Mennonite Church.

1831 – 1905. Lifetime resident of Rockingham Co. VA. Married Elizabeth Shank. Exempt from military service in the Confederate Army. Was a noted song leader. Built a cabin at Sparkling Springs near Singers Glen, VA. Buried at Weavers Mennonite Church.

1855 – 1930. Born in Rockingham Co. VA. Married Anna Shank. Sold the family homestead and moved to Washington Co. MD in 1888. Lived at 4 different homes in Washington Co., all of which he built. Buried at Reiffs Mennonite Church.
